Ingredients of Doi machh

  1. It's 6 pieces of Rui Machh.
  2. Prepare 100 gm of Yoghurt.
  3. It's 2 of Onion big.
  4. It's 1 inch of Ginger.
  5. Prepare 8-10 cloves of Garlic.
  6. It's of Whole garam masala (green cardamom 4, clove 4 and cinnamon 1/2').
  7. You need 8-10 of Green chilli.
  8. You need of Red chilli powder.
  9. Prepare of Haldi powder.
  10. It's of Salt.
  11. You need of Mustard oil.
  12. You need of Sugar.
  13. Prepare leaves of Coriander.

Doi mach is an Indian fish recipe which is generally made. Doi mach is a popular traditional bengali fish curry. very tasty. Doi Machh or fish in curd is a special Bengali recipe, in which sour curd is added to prepare the gravy. The tangy taste of sour curd gets infused with the fish and creates a superb fish preparation.

Doi machh step by step

  1. Wash the pieces of fish properly and add salt and Haldi powder and leave for few minutes..
  2. Add oil in the kadai and fry the fish from both sides..
  3. Make a smooth paste of onion, ginger, garlic and 2green chillies..
  4. Whip the yoghurt with one cup of water..
  5. In another kadai add four tablespoons of oil and let it heat..
  6. Add tejpatta and the whole garam masala. When it splutter add the onion paste and fry in low flame..
  7. Add red chilli powder, haldi powder, sugar, salt. When the masala starts leaving oil add the yoghurt and stir continuously..
  8. When it starts boiling add the fish pieces and green chilli. Let it cook for 5 minutes from both side. Sprinkle some chopped coriander leaves and switch off the flame..
  9. The dish is ready to serve with steamed rice..

How to make Doi Mach: Chop onion and grind it to make a paste. Put it over medium flame till it gets cooked properly. Serve Dahi Mach hot with rice. "Doi Machh" is not an authentic Bengali fish recipe. Doi mach is yoghurt based Rohu/Katla fish curry. In this curry fried fishes are marinated in seasoned beaten yoghurt and then cooked on low heat.
